Louisiana Gumbo Festival

Event Dates: October 9th-11th, 2026

Think you know Gumbo? Want to sample truly authentic Cajun gumbo? Then head on over to the "Gumbo Capital of Louisiana" for the Louisiana Gumbo Festival! Volunteers cook nearly 500 gallons of fresh seafood and chicken & sausage gumbo during the festival weekend. In addition, come out for great live music, a live auction (Sunday at 1:00 PM), carnival rides, a parade (Sunday at 10:30 AM) and much more.

This event was previously named one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society and proceeds support the local Chackbay Volunteer Fire Department.
